Please name a martial art involving swordsmenship?

I am looking for the same of several different martial arts that teach a specific swordfighting style. I know most if not all martial arts have some limited swordfighting, so im talking about swordfighting specific arts. Please do not answer kendo, No offense to kendo practitioners but kendo was invented when swords were no longer allowed in japan so i challenge its effectiveness.

  1. google
  2. American Ninjitsu
  3. Actually kendo was created to keep the art of katana fighting alive and so the style wouldn't be lost.
  4. "Iaido", it is related to Kendo. I remember kata always started with the sword in the scabbard, which makes sense in the real world. I believe it's atleast a few hundred years old. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iaido
  5. Iaido is a Japanese martial art having to do with drawing and handling a live sword. Aikido also has a swordsmanship component known as Aiki-Ken. It is practiced using a wooden practice sword or bokken
  6. Fencing. It's more like swashbuckling, but nonetheless requires skill with a sword.
  7. Wudan kung fu
  8. Isn't Samurai the art of Swordsmanship?...Duh!
  9. Try Iaido. It's a traditional art of making a killing strike while drawing the sword. http://www.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~baba/iaido/index.html Samurai was a class of warriors (sort of like knights) who practiced different types of martial arts. They carried the swords as a show of their class. True, most did know how to use them very well, but "Samurai" is NOT a sword art. Duh!
  10. kendo
