The best martial arts among all martial arts.?
Which is the best martial arts: 1. Kung-fu(china) 2. Aikido(japan) 3. Karate(Japan) 4. Judo(Japan) 5. Taekwondo(Korea) Please don't answer "____ is best for _____years old." These martial arts are the most useful. Please don't add the martial arts that uses weapons. Also, please explain why. I asked this question out of my interest since I have studied most of them and if its by majority....it would be unknown. In my country they say its Taekwondo. In others they say its Kung-fu, Aikido and others.

- ju-jitsu or any ground discipline...if you ever been in a real fight, it ALWAYS ends up going to the ground......
- MIXED.....
- kung fu
- where do some of you ppl come up with this crap?theres not one answer here so far that even slightly resembles any martial arts knowledge.fact.it's a fallacy that all fights go to the ground.fact.in most cases where it does go to the ground it involves untrained ppl and or alcohol.fact .anyone with half a brain knows it's far better to be on your feet. there is no best martial art,how many times does this same stupid question have to be asked.all martial arts have good points and bad points.it's the practioner that cross trains in different styles that makes a good martial art.but his martial art is only as good as the next bloke who is willing to put in the same effort.there is no best.
- No it is definitaly Bando, with its form of Wing chun and wing Tsuin, there is no match between another. It is a powerful defense, and Bruce Lee used it all his life, IM SERIOUS!!!! Just look at his one inch punch, thats from wing chun. alot of power man....
- The truth is there isn't a best style. Also your selection above aren't really the "best".Truth be told some fighting styles aren't ment to work agianst any person that also has training, for example Taekwondo works best when fighting tae kwon Do.Against Good old western Boxing it sucks. Also any style claiming to make you "the best" is B.S. because almost all styles taught today make the assumetion that the person your fighting is just some untrained dumb ass. What if you know TDK,Kung-Fu and Ninjitsu and the person your fighting knows regular western boxing, guess what you'll have your hands full with him because he has basic good KNOCKOUT Punches that will do DAMAGE.Not flashy cool spinning kicks or "super chops". Basically styles that don't use flashy moves are more effect.Look at ANY PRIDE FC or UFC or STREET FIGHT and you'll notice no matter how good one guy is the fights never look pretty or like the movies. So Styles like Tae kwon Do or Karate don't really work that well in M.M.A. or street fight settings. Now the ones that are effective tend to use basic powerful strikes or Good Grappling (mostly ground fighting). Now there is no Best style because no style has everything. In a street fight for example knowing ground fight like Brazilian jiu jitsu is a GREAT tool but if your being jumped its useless so striking and Running the Hell away works best, this is real life not the movies. Now in 90% of peoples opinions that Do FIGHT IN COMPETITION FOR M.M.A. (PRIDE FC or UFC) the best styles so far are: 1.Muay Thai for striking because it uses Punching,Elbowing,Kneeing and Kicking with out using useless flashy moves just basic powerful strikes with those limps. 2.Brazilian Jiu jistu for ground fighting and over all grappling ground or standing. 3.Wrestling for take downs that have the potential to knockout from shear slamming power. 4.Boxing for good old Punching power and stable footing. 5.* Urban Fighting - this is the stuff you use in life threating situations, the things not allowed in MMA such as Biting, eye Gouging or fish hooking. Now those are the best ones to any MMA fighter, now there are more but most are just a variation of the above. For example Kick boxing is a water down version of Muay thai that has some Karate in it or Sambo and catch wrestling are older variations of Brazilian Jiu jitsu. Also things like Judo are already in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. So in short the only thing you can do it MIX MARTIAL ART TRAIN!There is no best style. At best you still have to train in 1 Striking art and one Grappling art.Which for most REAL fighters is usually Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu jitsu, with those two styles you learn all the striking and grappling that most styles have and what isn't tauch from other styles in M.T. or B.J.J. is because its useless! Also none of this will make up for an incredible GAP in over all strength and conditioning. If a 5 year old knows all fighting styles and is a champion at beating other 5 years olds ,guess what.....short of a kick to the nuts his strikes won't faze an adult.Same aplies to adults! If your 110 pounds of weak human fat and you know Everything from every martial art in the history of this planet and you fight someone thats a brawling, weight lifting street fighting ASSHOLE with common sense that weighs 245 of muscle, guess what YOUR loosing.Because that person could take virtually anything you could hit them with not to mention a street fighter knows "pressure points".Thats no secret to MMA.Everybody knows um. They are the Nuts,Eyes,Throat,Ears (can be ripped off easily),collar bone and fingers that can be easily broke.these aren't the "secret techniques" of monks but the stuff that Hurts and everybody knows but forgets about in fighting because they are so lethal but some ppl will use and trust me if your ground fighting with someone that only knows how to Bite what ever is in reach in your a heep of trouble! Also some ppl that start fights often usually are experienced fighters because of that none stop fighting they do so in a way they are trained and if the cocky bastards happen to weight lift and take boxing then your in for a REAL fight.Sorry to inform you but life isn't like the movies and if your just WAY to weak for your opponent then your losing. Thats the reason why WEIGHT CLASSES exsist DUDE.Oh and if your wondering why I keep refering to boxing its because in the U.S. that is one of the most popular fighting styles that you can learn and in many cases in cheaper to learn then other fighting styles. So ppl from ghettos that are the type to Rob you may actually learn it.Think of one person you know that hasn't seen Boxing on T.V...... what do you know everybody has at least seen it.So stop asking whats the best fighting style! There isn't one!
- First off this is a BAD QUESTION! There is not a best of all the martial art. Each are is specifically designed to do something (example: judo (from japan) uses holds and throws. so in turn this would work better for someone with upper body strength) I do a martial art that is mostly Tea-kwon-do, but also has a touch of Judo. What i am trying to say is: A master in one is not always going to beet the same guy. Just chose the one that is best for what you like to do. I have longer legs, so i like kicking better than punching (i don't have to get in as close, leaving me open for an attack).
- Ok someone asks this question once a week so I will give the same anser I give once a week. There is no better Martial Art. The art is not better only the Artist can be better. The art doesn't make the Artist the Artist makes the Art. Case Closed.
- Sambo and if you don't believe me ask Fedor
- Fried dumpling technique, it tastes good and fills you up !
- No such thing as the "best martial art", when the time comes and you are put to the test and become victorious..that is the best martial art. If you fail it's you and not the art. (77)
- mma, mixed martial arts is a mixture of several arts and takes the best from each art! It is effective on feet or on the ground.
- no right answer... that simple
- I would look into Jeet Kune Do. It was created by Bruce Lee. It uses his background in Wing Chun which is a form of Gung Fu. It incorperates western boxing, fencing, grappling, and Bruce's own kicking style. There is a lot more to it but I would start by looking into Dan Inosanto. He was one of Bruce's first students. Good luck.
- Your country is Korea? Depends on what you want. Self defense it goes to Comhrac Bas. Look it up if you don´t know it. And believe any hype that you see.
- there isnt a best martial art, they all have there own pros and cons, e.g. judo u aint gunna learn how to punch or kick bu in karate you dont do many throws, holds, and manipulations etc. if i had to pick out of your choice however i wuld say kung fu because its the most developed one nd has a good blend of techniques involved
- Ok. heres the deal. Kung-Fu,Karate,Twaekwondo are all based on Kicks and Punches. If U seriously got in a fight with either a karate type striker kind of guy or a muscle dude at a bar who doesn trealy know how to fight...your best...AND I MEAN BEST BEAT is either BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) or a form of Jiu Jitsu or what i want to start practician later on in life which is MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Reason being is that BJJ or MMA teach you how to put someone in submission (arm break, leg break, or choke) while being attack while on the ground. MMA actualy goes further to teach good affective Punches and Kicks if needed but also mainly Ground Fighting just like Jiu Jitsu. Don't belive Hollywood on martial arts; they are just their for the green and doesnt give a hoot whats right. Kung Fu is respected throughout the world but its all flashy and pretty looking stunts and has nothing to do with real fighing. Looks cool but 100% inneffective. There was some guy in another post giving an answer on a similar topic and he was so full of BS claiming he Beat so and so with Kung Fu ALL the time. If you dont belive me search in YouTube and type something like Kung Fu vs Jiu Jitsu. Better yet type out Royce Gracie vs Shamrock and you will get your answer. All martail arts are respected by me but if u want something effective take my addvice or just do ur own research on the web. :-)
- Taekwondo if you are into speed and power, kung-fu if you are into the art of martial arts, and aikido if you are into non-combative self defense.
- Who told you 'these' were the BEST? They may be some of the oldest (except Aikido), but the best? Asking a question such as this one makes it clear that you are either a novice martial artist, or not one at all.
- Their all good martial arts but the ones i prefer are, Aikido and Judo because Aikido is very affective against many strikes and wepons and Judo can affectivly throw someone to the ground using a wide range of techniques.
