Who is the most supreme martial arts actor, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, or Jet Li?

Having been a Bruce fan for years, but aware his films were so-so but the action terrific, then Jackie being a terrific martial artist and some of his early films showed a more serious side to him, I just never thought I would like Jet Li. I never liked hero ,much as I tried, but think, Fearless, Once upon a time in China trilogy and the Tai Chi Master are all superb, especially Fearless. Are there better out there, or could you pick one from these three. Jet was a wushu champion in China I think on 4 occasions, so as a pur martial artist, he would be my favourite. I also think Jet is the best actor of the three. What does anyone else think? Thanks! It's just I recall an interview Bruce did on a Canadian show. He said he would like to be thought of as a great martial arts actor. To my mind he was good, and I agree too he was a pioneer - would there have been Jet or Jackie without Bruce? I just feel Jet Li has matured as an actor and picked some interesting films. That said I think Fist of Fury is Bruce's best by some way.

  1. dude?!...Bruce Lee all the way man
  2. Keyword (actor): Bruce Lee, he was a pioneer. Easy decision.
  3. Tony jaa Is the next upcoming action legend Jet Li is more skilled in his movies. Jackie Chan is a stunt man so he can do stunts better then them all. Bruce is Bruce. What can u say.
  4. Bruce Lee forever! He never had a particular fighting style but he said that he fights like water. What ever you throw at him he could mold and fight back. Plus all the fight scenes you watched in his movies were him consciously slowing down his fighting moves so the camera could catch it. He trained to street fight. He is the ultimate and that's all there is to it. Screw all these people that say he'd get his ass kicked in UFC. UFC couldn't hold his jock. It might be a little long, but if you go to a video site like youtube or google vid, watch the Bruce Lee Lost Interview and you'll understand more about his mentality.
  5. Really would depend on what aspect of acting your talking about. For fighting I would say Bruce all the way. Tony Jaa is a close second. But for acting ability I would say Jet Li. Of course his movie were more epic, and had bigger budgets than anything Bruce did at the time, with the exception of Enter the Dragon. Your choice of Fists of Fury being Bruce's best movie I'd have to disagree. Return of the Dragon was by far the best. How can you forget the famous Bruce vs Chuck Norris fight scene? Also the last half hour of the uncut version of Game of Death had some of the best fight scenes.
  6. I prefer Dolph Lundgreen
  7. I think that as a Martial Artist. Bruce Lee was superior to Jackie Chan and Jet Li. He would have kicked their butts anyday. However, the movies he made had great action, but he wasn't that great of an actor. I think as far as pure acting goes, Jackie Chan is the best "martial arts actor". His entire carreer has revolved around acting starting from Chinese Opera. He introduced his own style of acting into the Martial arts/ action genre. He mixed comedy and action together to make some of the most entertaining action movies in the world. Jet Li on the other hand usually just acts like a tough guy, doesn't show much emotion or talk much in his movies because he doesn't have very good range as an actor. Anyone can be put in his movies and pull off the kind of acting he does. However, his martial arts abilities are superb, which makes up for his lack of acting skills. But I'll say that he is growing as an actor and getting better. I think he did a pretty good job in Fearless and War about showing a little emotion in his acting. (Also, I would like to point out that Wu Shu isn't necesarrily a fighting art but a form art for public displays.) As far as Jet Li's abilities go, Tony Jar of Ong Bak and The Protetor fame is on his tale. If he sticks with what he's doing, he might be just as big as Jet Li. So to answer your questions, the best Martial arts ACTOR is Jackie Chan.
  8. One word - Bruce
  9. i asked this question over a week ago but i also added chuck norris for comedy value. my personal opinion is jet li is the best fighter id even say just better than bruce and acting wise jackie chan. however the character that jet li played in fearless huo yuanjia is suppossed to have been one hard b$%^&**d and after reading up on him id even go as far as to say hed beat all the mentioned.
  10. Jackie Chan - great entertainer and does his own stunts. So he deserves all the props possible Jet Li - thank goodness for wire fu - his movies always have the best music as well (The One). Bruce - The man just had a coolness that can never be recaptured in any martial arts actor today. When he does his 'glare', you know the opponent is dead meat. His punches and kicks were so fast, they had to use slow motion in his movies just so the viewer could see them! Oh, and who else faught Kareem Abdul Jabbar and a gorilla? Winner: Bruce Lee
  11. LOL Bruce is the greatest Marshal artist. Next id say Jet Li then Jackie. Jackies movies are cool but more funny then action packed. Jet LI kicks ass. And Bruce Lee kicks more ass and all he has to do is look at you and you know your about to get your ass kicked. lol jk.
  12. Myself I like Jet Li the way he fights. I like Jackie Chan because his movies are both action and comedy. Bruce Lee Martial Arts is good but his movies make me bored.
  13. Acting I would say Jackie Chan he is entertaining and good at what he does, but I cant picture him in the UFC octagon, you know? As far as martial arts goes Bruce Lee is/was the king out of the three, if he were alive today and in his prime, the UFC light weights would definately have a run for thier money.
  14. That is kind of hard to answer honestly. Bruce Lee made movies in an era where technology could not do what it can today to make the actors look even better if he was to make movies today the way Li and Chan do then he would probably look much different than in the 70's and late 60's films. Chan did many low budget films as a youth than he hit it good with comedy style films, so he has never been looked at as more than a great entertainer and doing his own stunts but he is yet to truly do a high budget serious film or varaiety of parts such as Jet Li has. So of the three I say Jet Li looks better in films because he has been in many high budget and has had a diversity of characters to play such as in Fearless, to Unleashed or earlier films like Lethal Weapon 4 his debut. Bruce had to rely on more raw talent of acting to express things in his films which can be done better with CG I and computers than they did in earlier films, not that their scripts or acting were worst, just that the technology to record them and replay them to an audience was not to par to today's movies. So I say Bruce is a good actor because he had less technology and had to rely on skill over CG I where LI has had the modern computers to make his films really stand out. and Chan made some great comedy martial art movies. All are good Martial Artists and deserve recognition regardless who was better that is for sure. They all did good jobs. Even Chuck finally did with Walker. I do not know if Chan ever competed in his youth or not, I know Bruce did, he knocked a friend of my own Sensei's out Former Master Ed Gross currently deceased but when he was alive he competed against Lee and was KO'd in 3 seconds flat roughly. One punch. He was so fast Master Gross said he did not even see him throw the punch.
  15. Mr Bruce Lee.no contest.
  16. I agree with you. Jet Li is amazing and his martial arts are second to none. but what set him apart is his acting ability he can pull off serious (lethal weapon 4) comedy (Romero must die) Drama (Unleashed). I read an interview that the director of LW4 asked him to slow down because Mel Gibson is supposed to win the fight and look like he could actually defeat Jet Li's character
  17. I'm a fan of Bruce Lee, Jet li and jackie chan but feel Bruce was the better martial artist, but think Jet is brilliant and jackie is awesome for his age as is sammo Hung. But Bruce was the best all rounder I think :)
  18. bruce lee. didnt even have to think it out
